Local Programs & Services for Families

Centralia Parents As Teachers 
​
The goal of Parents as Teachers is to help all parents get their child off to the best possible start. Parents as Teachers provides personal visits, group connection activities, screening and resource and referral to families of children prenatal to kindergarten entry and is offered free of charge to any family living in Centralia School District who has a child not yet in kindergarten. Visits may even begin before the baby is born. Please call Chance Elementary School, 682-2014, for more information or to enroll in the program.

Head Start is a child development program that provides services to preschool children and their families who have incomes at or below the Federal poverty level. The Head Start child development program provides services for children with a focus on education, socio-emotional development, physical and mental health, and nutrition. Centralia Jack-In-The-Box Playschool
Jack-in-the-Box Playschool is located inside the Centralia United Methodist Church.  It is a private preschool that serves children ages 3-5. Jack-in-the-Box Playschool is religious affiliated and normally has 1 class for 3 year-olds with a capacity of 14 students, and 2 classes for 4- & 5-year-olds with capacities of 14 students each.   Current Director: Lydia Collier, Phone: (573) 682-3434
Boone County Early Childhood Coalition
